Overview

Toll roads and highways can be a blur of heavy, high-speed traffic. SAIC's TollVision system can help sort it all out by identifying vehicles in real time at speeds up to 100 mph (160 km/h). With license plate numbers and vehicle images from the TollVision system, toll and traffic authorities can:

• Collect tolls on the open road with or without Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
• Recover revenue from toll violators at toll plazas and open-road tolling sites
• React quickly to repeat toll violators, AMBER Alerts™ and other wanted vehicles

The TollVision system combines these innovative SAIC technologies:

• Exact Reader OCR: SAIC's OCR technology can read license plate numbers in real-time or batch mode. The TollVision system typically achieves OCR accuracy of 90 percent or more. Real-time OCR capability can be easily added to existing TollVision systems.
• Exact Exposure® cameras: SAIC's Exact Exposure technology optimizes the exposure for every shot, providing superior image quality for OCR and visual identification.
• LED lighting: SAIC's Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting provides clear illumination for consistent image quality regardless of natural light conditions. And its efficiency, reliability and long life make it ideal for real-world operations.
• The TollVision system communicates with the traffic authority's system through SAIC's field-proven interface. The TollVision system creates a record of every transaction of interest, including vehicle images, OCR results, and data from the host system.
