SAIC Helps the National Nuclear Security Administration Meet its Mission
SAIC provides support for the development and deployment of production technologies to replace components inserted into nuclear bombs and ballistic missile weapons.
Overview
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Defense Programs is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and effectiveness of the nuclear deterrent without nuclear testing. One of the primary missions of NNSA is to maintain and enhance the safety, security, and reliability of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile. NNSA, through its Office of Defense Programs, ensures that the U.S. nuclear arsenal meets the country’s national security requirements and continues to serve its essential deterrence role.
For the past 25 years, SAIC has been providing technical, engineering and programmatic support services to NNSA’s Office of Defense Programs in meeting its nuclear deterrent mission. SAIC support has included the following practice areas:
- Stockpile management
- Stockpile research and development
- Technology maturation
- High performance computing
- Defense science
- Facility and infrastructure acquisition and operation
- Program integration and strategic publications
Our work in stockpile management for the Office of Defense Programs includes technical and programmatic support for weapon maintenance; surveillance; and life extension, modification, or alteration.
SAIC provides support for the development and deployment of production technologies for materials, manufacturing, acquisition, and inspection and testing for replacement components inserted into nuclear bombs and ballistic missile weapons and for joint test assemblies. We also play a large part in simulation and computing programs that provide leading-edge, high-end computer simulation capabilities to meet weapons assessment and certification requirements.
