SAIC Assessed China’s Power Technology for Saudi Electric Company Power Plant

SAIC played a critical role in assessing the potential risks associated with more affordable Chinese power generation technology and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracting.

Overview

SAIC’s technical and financial expertise was called on to assess the potential risks associated with Chinese power generation technology and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracting of the 1,200-megawatt Rabigh Power Plant in Saudi Arabia. The power plant was the first independent power project to be tendered by the Saudi Electric Company.

SAIC’s experience in complex power generation infrastructure, technology investment strategies, Chinese equipment suppliers, and international due diligence processes helped enable a global team to identify and mitigate significant technical and commercial risks to international lenders, investors, developers, and owners.

Under SAIC’s guidance, this innovative, high-profile project became the first power project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to use Chinese-manufactured equipment and a China-based EPC consortium.
