Teammate Selection Process
To be considered for future teaming opportunities with SAIC, the first step is to submit or update your company profile to our small business database.
Overview
SAIC program managers, business developers, contracts and procurement personnel access our small business database actively to identify capable small businesses that meet their needs on current and upcoming programs.
SAIC employs the following criteria in selecting small businesses to participate in its procurement and acquisition process:
- Niches/capabilities
- Customer Knowledge
- Past Performance
- Financial Stability
Almost all subcontracting activity is accomplished through upfront teaming on specific procurements. Therefore, it is critical that small businesses interested in teaming have niches and capabilities relating to a specific statement of work contained in a procurement. Additionally, two great discriminators or differentiators are knowledge of the customer and strong past performance qualifications.
We know that small businesses can bring innovation and knowledge that can offer a competitive position. When SAIC is pursuing a specific procurement opportunity, teammates are selected early, sometimes six months before the solicitation's release. It is imperative that small businesses interested in a specific opportunity contact SAIC early for teaming consideration-once the release of proposal (RFP) is released, it may be too late because the team has more than likely been formulated.
Our concept of teaming works both ways. In addition to priming efforts, SAIC also works with select qualified small businesses in pursuing strategic set-asides where SAIC can bring strength to the team. Either way, we seek companies that are financially stable, cost competitive, and have access to a deep resource pool.
