Instructions for Certifying Your Tax Status With BNY Mellon

IRS regulations require that you certify your tax identification number (for most personal accounts, this means certifying your social security number) on your Equity Holdings and/or ESPP account(s) with BNY Mellon Shareowner Services prior to the payment of any dividend or sale of stock through BNY Mellon.

Certify Your Tax Status

This certification requirement applies to U.S. citizens and those holding U.S. Resident status. In addition, if you are a foreign citizen and you do not have a U.S. Tax ID, you must still certify your country of residence. It is your responsibility to confirm that your tax status has been updated in BNY Mellon's system.

You must certify the Tax ID for each Equity Holdings account that you control. For example, if you own SAIC stock in a personal account and also in a trust, you must certify the Tax ID for both of these accounts separately even if the Tax ID is the same. In addition, you must certify the Tax ID for your ESPP account unless your prior certification in your Equity Holdings account has been transferred to your ESPP account.

To certify the Tax ID for your account or confirm that you have already certified it, follow these steps:

  1. Have Your Access ID and Password/PIN Ready

If you don't have your Access ID or Password/PIN, you may obtain either by calling the phone numbers below and waiting through the prompts until you reach a customer service representative. If BNY Mellon does not have an e-mail address for your account, your access information will be sent through regular mail.

    • 866-400-SAIC (7242) in the U.S.
    • 201-680-6625 if you are outside of the U.S.

To Confirm if the Tax ID on Your Account Is Certified:

After logging into the BNY Mellon site, follow the steps below to confirm that your Tax ID is certified:

    • Select Details next to Equity Holdings.
    • On the following screen, select SAIC.
    • Go to the Manage Account Info drop-down menu and choose Certify Taxpayer ID.
    • The certification status of the Tax ID for your account will be displayed. If it is not certified, you may certify your Tax ID on this page.

Failure to certify your tax status prior to any dividend payment or sale of stock will result in a mandatory U.S. backup withholding tax of at least 28%. You may be entitled to receive some amount of this withholding tax back from the IRS depending on your personal tax circumstances, but this amount can not be refunded by SAIC or BNY Mellon. It is your responsibility to confirm that your tax status has been updated in BNY Mellon's system.
