SAIC's Risk and Reliability Solutions
SAIC provides global risk and reliability solutions for high-risk, harsh, and remote environments. Our interdisciplinary teams include experts in systems engineering, maintenance and reliability, risk management, and project management.
We provide comprehensive risk and reliability solutions for all aspects of the enterprise: technology applications, concept development, operations, reliability, availability, maintainability, and supportability.
SAIC's experts bring the breadth of experience required to address the world's most complex engineering challenges in high-risk environments. We use advanced analysis methods, tools, and capabilities to assess system characteristics and capability throughout the project life cycle to assist in key engineering and program decisions.
Capabilities:
- Risk management and risk-based decision services
- Quality engineering and quality assurance
- Probabilistic risk assessment
- Hazard analysis (including operations hazard analysis)
- Reliability and maintainability
- Software assurance
SAIC provides rapid, comprehensive risk and reliability oversight and review, focusing on risk avoidance, risk management, minimization, and mitigation for essential operations in high-risk, harsh, and remote environments throughout the system life cycle.
Services
SAIC helps determine quantitative and qualitative reliability requirements; identify and evaluate potential failure modes; determine items that may drive risks and costs; and assess, measure, and verify performance.
Risk Management and Risk-Based Decision-Making Services
SAIC supports key decisions by providing the mechanism for decision makers to maintain cost, schedule, technical performance, and safety with risk reduction as a driver.
Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance
Our quality engineers produce and/or verify products to confirm that adequate design and manufacturing requirements are included in process and project design specifications. We apply quality engineering verification principles throughout the design, production, testing, and refurbishment of hardware and software.
Probabilistic Risk Assessment
SAIC is an industry leader in the development and application of probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) techniques to identify, rank, and mitigate reliability and safety issues within NASA's human space program as well as robotic exploration missions. This legacy has allowed SAIC to extend the application of PRA into numerous other industries, including the energy and petrochemical areas.
To properly support key design and operational decisions, design and operational alternatives are analyzed not only with respect to their impact on a project's technical and programmatic objectives, but also with respect to their impact on high-level risk objectives. Our PRA analysts and engineers analyze product or system risk characteristics through the entire life cycle, from concept phase through system operations. We use fully tested and proven PRA tools and techniques along with extensive libraries of historical operations and failure data to quantitatively derive the probability of occurrence of highly undesirable events or accidents.
Hazard Analysis
Hazard analysis is integral in determining risks. SAIC uses proven top-down and bottom-up hazard analysis methods in order to reduce risk and costs. Our capabilities are rooted in traditional methods augmented by decades of corporate experience and lessons learned. SAIC's tailored approach to hazard analysis, fault trees, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) help increase safety, manage risks, and avoid unnecessary cost.
Reliability and Maintainability
SAIC integrates reliability engineering to help ensure system performance and reduce unplanned costs. For the reliable performance and successful operation of a system or product, SAIC reliability engineers analyze reliability characteristics through the life cycle (determining quantitative and qualitative reliability requirements, performing failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) at a functional and subsystem level, determining weak links, and assessing reliability performance).
Software Assurance
SAIC software assurance engineers have experience throughout the software life cycle. The software life cycle typically begins when a software product is conceived and ends when the software product is retired or replaced. The software life cycle usually includes phases ranging from concept exploration, requirements, design, implementation, and testing to operation and maintenance, and retirement.
