Jim Light
Senior Director of Space Strategy
Jim Light is a senior director of space strategy within SAIC’s National Security Group.
Light focuses on strategy and solutions for space agencies such as the U.S. Space Force, Space Development Agency, Space Rapid Capabilities Office, and the Space Security and Defense Program.
Through acquisitions, Light joined SAIC in 2015. Prior to joining SAIC, Light was the vice president of business development and general manager of New and Emerging Programs at LinQuest Corporation. Light established and executed enterprisewide growth strategy and fostered new customer growth.
in his career, Light served 13 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. Light was the lead NASA integrator for the first Spacelab mission in the early 1980s and an orbiter project engineer at Kennedy Space Center for space shuttles Challenger and Discovery. He was later commander of the NRO Launch Communications Squadron and Detachment 9.
During his career, Light has worked across space customer markets including NASA, USAF, Intelligence Community and, commercial systems. Light’s 38 years of experience in the engineering and operation of space systems includes on-orbit systems, launch systems, and related ground command, control and communications systems.
Light earned his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from from Penn State University, and his Master of Business Administration from Chapman University in Orange, California.
