Accelerating USTRANSCOM’s Global Mobility Through Seamless IT

SAIC powers the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) with mission-driven IT modernization, automation and rapid response solutions that strengthen global logistics and deliver readiness at speed.

Mission Need

The United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) ensures that troops, equipment and supplies reach the right place at the right time—making it the lifeline of the Joint Force. To sustain and scale this global mission, USTRANSCOM requires a modern, resilient IT backbone that eliminates delays, streamlines logistics coordination and enhances mission command effectiveness.

As operational demands grow, so does the need for integrated systems that automate workflows, accelerate communication and enable real-time decision-making. USTRANSCOM turned to SAIC under the Management Information Technology Services (MITS) program to modernize and unify its IT environment, ensuring personnel can focus on executing global transport operations instead of troubleshooting technology.

Solution

SAIC delivers seamless IT modernization and process automation to USTRANSCOM through MITS—enabling faster decisions, more efficient operations and mission agility.

When USTRANSCOM sought to implement ServiceNow to automate IT service delivery, SAIC led acquisition, integration and deployment from start to go-live in record time. Licenses were delivered in days, not months, and the platform was fully operational within a few months. In July 2025, USTRANSCOM went live with ServiceNow and then expanded its capability with three additional modules by the end of September.

This rapid deployment has introduced automated workflows and streamlined service delivery across the enterprise. USTRANSCOM now connects IT processes with other mission areas—such as budgeting, acquisitions and personnel onboarding—to strengthen the overall Joint Deployment Distribution Enterprise.

In parallel, SAIC supported the rapid establishment of the Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Joint Task Force (JTF), created by the Secretary of Defense to ease household goods moves for service members and their families. Within weeks, SAIC established nine operational offices—including a fully functional call center—configured under the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Integrated Phone System. The SAIC team completed requirements gathering, configuration and testing in one week, a process that typically takes several months.

Beyond infrastructure, SAIC provisioned 88 user accounts, configured nearly 100 systems and ensured operational requests were fulfilled within 24 hours. Working closely with DISA, SAIC also delivered an organizational mailbox aligned to the JTF director’s specifications, reinforcing secure and effective communication.

Mission Impact

USTRANSCOM’s IT environment now operates with greater speed, precision and resilience—allowing personnel to focus on delivering people and materiel where they are needed most.

SAIC’s ability to accelerate modernization and automation directly supports mission service management and global logistics coordination. The success of ServiceNow implementation and PCS JTF activation demonstrates how agile IT execution translates into measurable operational gains.

With each advancement, SAIC continues to remove technical roadblocks, fortify USTRANSCOM’s digital infrastructure and enable the Combatant Command to meet future mobility challenges with confidence and speed. (Explore how digital transformation strengthens DOD missions.)
